CKFR presented at the Software & Info. Industry Assn. (SIIA) today from 2:10 to 2:40 P.M. with almost an hour breakout session afterwards. Allen Shulman (CFO) made an excellent presentation. They began with the same movie used in the road show last week -- little Katie walking her all-thumbs, tech-dumb Dad through paying ebills. We have to get the flick for our Friday August 27 bash in New York City.
I asked tons of questions and learned lots. I won't have time to post it all now but here is Part I with the rest to follow late tonite.
1) the outage a few weeks ago will result in a $2 1/2 to $3 million charge which will be taken in the present quarter.
2) bills will be presented on sites of banks, brokers, and portals, and soon "others which will surprise you."
3) the unannounced portal which was the subject of the Intuit arb was quite fast initially in setting up their potential ebill offering, but due to refinements, this has slowed down considerably.
4) AOL and YHOO have quite different approaches to how to get payments over the net, the former a complex and the latter a simple methodology. AOL will likely use Intuit as some sort of entree (I didn't quite get this, but you technonuts may understand).
5) Portals will pay CKFR the same as banks, about $4 per subscriber per month, except for the initial free period, of course. This may eventually be cut to $2 per month plus a per transaction fee (in order for the billers to share some of the costs -- obviously, I didn't get this exactly right either.
6) Now, they have exactly 53 billers in tow.

As they say in the tabloids, more to follow later.
