Today's processors are still too slow and there is plenty of evidence that people will pay large sums for faster machines. Far from being a commodity, it is getting more and more difficult to produce quantities of these ultra-fast machines. It is less of a commodity now than ever.

Again, you have two, maybe three viable chip makers in this segment and Intel will likely be 50% to 100% faster than the competition, using equal conditions for testing.

What you are really missing, though, is the pressure that voice, video and general multimedia is putting on the system. The PC is quickly becoming an interactive communications device with visualization taking a fundamental role. Your analysis ignores clear and important developments and Intel's earnings will continue to grow by providing the necessary technology to meet this growing demand.
