We're going in reverse of our business model IMHO. Well said. Articulates one of my concerns very well. I'm not the search engine expert, and I'm definitely willing to concede that AltaVista might be the hottest thing since sliced icons, but $2B? Ask Web users to name top search engines and you'll hear Yahoo, Lycos, Excite, Hotbot, WebCrawler, maybe AskJeeves, and....maybe AltaVista. Look at how much $$ Hotbot has sunk into (very clever and funny) TV ads or the $$ AskJeeves is sinking in (less clever) radio spots. Establishing a brand like this is a huge cash drain -- AFTER the $2B... DW does have some 'splainin to do. However, if I were a CPQ holder, I'd be pretty happy to get $2B for a non-performing asset...
