Sean and all: pick your brains on MP3 and CD burning?

Well, I've had the chance to get the Yamaha up and running today, and it is very impressive. 4x write speed to CD-RW's via Easy CD Creator lets me back up all my crucial data quickly and easily. And the Smart & Friendly 4x CD-RW disks that are down to $2.95 at buy.com (and FWIW, the regular CD RW are a comical $1.22, at least today.)

I can also report that the Maxell CD-R's that office depot is blowing out for $10 a 10 pack (-$10 after rebate--can you believe it?) seem to work great in this drive at 2x speed for audio recordings--and my less than new Kenwood CD player had no problems with them.

Anyway, my wife and I are fascinated by the idea of MP3 audio. Just picked up a cheap Rio MP3 player, and noticed that the new SB live (and live value) drivers include MP3 functionality. Anyway...

I'm taking all this in, and wondering a few things. Any thoughts from you Cd burning / MP3 vets would be most welcome:

1) Where are the best places to get MP3 files?

2) do you notice a discernable quality dropoff from standard CD recordings?

3) How do you mark your CD-R and CD-RW disks? I've seen the smart & friendly speed writer pen & the stomper labling kit...does any kind of felt tip work OK on the surface? Do any let you wipe off the labeling and re-write on it?

4) do you find the features on the deluxe version of Easy CD Creator worth the cost?

Doubtless I'll have more questions soon, but this should begin to get things rolling. :)

TIA,

Dave
