FYI by my calculation even if all the convertable bonds were coverted to stock it would bring the shares outstanding only up to about 55 million (not accounting for the 3 million share repurchase or the repurchase of debt). Based on the 1997 earnings estimate of $2 per share, we would only come down to about 1.66 per share which would bring us to a current PE of only 5.12 - after all debt is converted to shares at the conversion price. Anyone disagree with my calculations?
