Ian,

To reach the business volume of almost $ 20B, Dell must have helped larger business disposing used computers. This was done not through auctioning refurbished computers to homeusers. Whatever formula Dell has done so far in helping its customer in taking back the pc's and disposing them, Dell has done a wonderful job.

Of course there is always an argument that auction is an additional business which is profitable, but so is selling mousepads.
