3Com Corp. [NASDAQ:COMS] said it will augment its Data-Over-Cable
product with support for the Multimedia Cable Network System (MCNS)
and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) technology for its end-to-end
cable networking products.

3Com said it is developing cable modems based on both technologies.
3Com announced today that it plans to develop MCNS cable modems using
chip sets from Broadcom Corporation, will support the MCNS specification
process, will plan to participate and support future interoperability
testing and certification plans.
