The lesson to be learned from Kosovo is that lobbing a few bombs or missile to impress the citizenry is no substitute for real diplomacy, or real war.
This idea that a little bombing would advance the cause of peace is horse shit.
We make peace or we make war, but these CNN orchestrated hygienic mini-wars, often timed to produce maximum effect on the domestic political front, had become obscene.
A case can be made for fixing a particular type of situation with missiles or bombs, but not all situations.
Kosovo was the latest action in our ever expanding missile-diplomacy, and there, the shit just hit the fan, because Milosevic was more manipulative than we were, and unlike us, not hesitant to spill blood, mostly the Albanians'.
The real victory will be when we achieve some stability in the Balkans, and when the we in the West and our politicians analyze the mistakes that were made, and learn the lessons of this situation.
Expect a lot more scrutiny from Congress and the public over foreign policy, and hopefully, less missiles shown flying on CNN.
