Thanks for the story and the observations, Stitch. My experience shows those on-the-ground observations to be more useful than the statistics.

For years, Bangkok was absolutely bustling, the traffic horrible and construction everywhere. I mean, since 1980 or so. It took 18 years of growth to get over-extended - it might take five or so to catch up with itself, I guess.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder that economic conditions have human consequences. A short visit to Calcutta, 1 1/2 hours by air from you, would cement that notion permanently.
