Hi Rich, I created Start Up disk per your instructions, booted and it goes thru' POST, and this,

starting windows 95,

Windows XMS Driver ver 3.95,
Extended Memory Specifications (XMS) Version 3.0,
Copyright 1988-19995 Microsoft Corp.

ERROR: Unable to control A20 Line!
XMS Driver not Installed.

and then it freezes.

If I start without the boot disk it goes thru Post, Windows Logo
loads for a second then screen goes black with message.

HIMEM.SYS is missing.
make sure that the file is in your Windows directory.
and the C:\> prompt shows.

My Windows and Windows System directorys are intact. All data on C:
is OK. The HIMEM.SYS file is in Windows directory.

There is a line in Config.sys, DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
also the HIMEM.SYS is in DOS (Command).

the win95 directory is something I created couple years ago for
some reason. I don't think WINDOWS95 was ever loaded there.

Seems I went thru this before when the HIMEM.SYS gave me problems.
Can't remember the solution tho'.

Thanks Rich, /jw

ps; I have HIMEM.SYS also on Boot Disk. It's an old machine, 486,
64MB Memory, 540MB HDD, have about 45MB free HDD space. Win95A.
