I found this message on Yahoo CS Board.... apparently some "insider" predicted the 3 to 4 cents earning...the day before (posted 6/20) it was announced (earnings announced 6/21)...and is confirming the "buyout rumors"
I find it comforting...since I am long CS..

Bank on between 3-4 cents ,the street estimate was
2 cents ,the way it has been expressed inside cabletron from the top is we have blown away #'s,
Craig did not step down because we didn't make #'s
We have made #'s and this is why he is stepping down this quarter because as long as #'s are good craig knows it won't hurt his 19 million shares when stepping down.
Also craig is personally under a great deal of family pressure (need I say more).Also to the best of my knowledge the siemens/ctron
deal is not over yet and 1 of the requirements they had was craig must step down if they are to bid on us.
2 other things to ponder,our spectrum business unit
is worth an estimated 500 million +,our layer 3 switch business has got to be worth more than extremes
market cap 2.4 billion .
we are the leader in layer 3 ports shipped ,extreme is
2nd ,bay/nortel is 3rd and cisco is way behind us
on layer 3.check cabletron homepage for references.
what about our other switch business layer 2 and wan products and vpn's ,and professional services
unit and the maintenance revenues on our installed base.
we should have a market cap closer to 5 billion not
2 billion,which means there is a very good chance
of a buyout close to 30.
The mood is very positive ,piyush has been very well
accepted by our Company ,1 specific thing he did was do away with executive parking ,first come first
serve ,he who gets in late walks further .
As for VP of Human resources Linda Pepin getting pushed out by piyush (she says she resigned )he and everyone else thought she was the wicked witch,
hence there was a certain song being sung that day
VP of Marketing Allen Finch, GOOD RIDENCE ,I would say he either couldn't find a good parking space at 8:01 or couldn't bare the thought of not seeing his mercedes from his office.Both I think.
He never made sense when speaking with customers
I happen to have sat in on a few customer presentations with him.
And when he adressed the sales team ,it was like what planet are you from, go back to american express or IBM ,they must not have liked him either.
I'm sure Piyush has worked with plenty of QUALIFIED senior execs in his very respected career and will waste no time in bringing them aboard to replace those misfits of corporate america.
And yes next quarter even looks better so far.
Tom where do you get your info that
cabltron will dissapoint and not deliver 2 cents.
Do you even know next week we will be announcing
the SIGNED multi billion $$$ oem agreement and reseller agreement with Compaq,your sleeping on this stock.
Couldn't resist comenting since I have worked at Cabletron for 8 years and this is 1 of our best quarters ever,and I couldn't believe how the only comment you had to the other readers question was well look at my track record ,why couldn't you give a reason why you feel it will not make 2 cents ,next time if you don't know and your guessing don't say anything ,
I'm trying to stop anyone from selling on your guess work.I'm sure we all appreciate facts. most are easy to guess ,admit it to us your guessing on this one .
If you admit it now, people will have chance to buy
ctron and catch the wave ,and those that have shorted c-tron can buy back now before it's to late.
For the record I think Compaq will make a serious bid for c-tron in the next 6 months ,and if seimens try to
buy us in the next 2 months Compaq will bid for us as well.
I will tell you that I own c-tron shares recent purchase
last week .

for another tech stock ANCR and go to post 785
it is mine ,I bought it at 1.16 and it is now at 19.5
not a bad turn around .so believe tom or believe someone who works for this company and who has posted a message 6 months ago on a 1500 % gainer
in a tech stock and wasn't afraid to share the reasons why I bought and when and whats more it was at 1.25 when I posted so everyone still had a chance to get in.cabletron will announce after the bell on 6-21
