Iridium is bound to have further difficulties but I don't think mot will let it die easily. The current difficulties it has may actually prevent anyone besides inmarsat (which is even less portable than iridium) from competing soon. I think some of nextel's highest value travelling customers might want a number that could be used almost anywhere...
