Regarding Health Care on the Web:

Just a personal note. I have a teenage son who is a soccer player. He went down a couple of months ago with severe knee pain that left him unable to even put weight on it. We did the home remedy for a day and when it didn't get better went through the all too familiar ordeal(you know it if you have kids). First to a 24 primary care facility to get "screened" so we could see an ortho doctor. Xrays etc. The primary doc was clueless but he gave us our "pass" to see the expert. Then scheduled an appointment with the orthopedic group to find out what the heck was wrong. We were given an immediate diagnosis of "Osteo chronditis" and advised surgery to correct it. I was skeptical and stalled for time. Went home that night and got on the Net and begin searching. Found that this syndrome (an inflamation of the growth plate) when in the knee is very common among "adolescent males particularly active in sports such as soccer" and the recommended treatment was RICE rest, isolation, compression and elevation. Feeling empowered, we treated it accordingly and my son's fine.

This opened my eyes to the power of the Internet in this huge field. I would love to play heavily in this. Welcome all ideas.
