I don't really follow BRYO other then just a cursory look few months back. At that time my feeling and comment on one of the threads was BRYO at the prevailing prices (around 20 something) was too expensive and way ahead of itself. I don't know much about their products in terms of comparing them to say BOBJ/COGN. So I am not sure whether sqribe merger is good for them or not but generally when two software company merge, you have to expect a bit of a disruption even if they pull it off. BRYO certainly seem to have some high profile clients. Next qtrly numbers should give some ideas as to how they are faring....

As for SEG giving away software, it is a bit of a puzzle. I am sure their sale people and customers who paid are probably a bit pissed. If I was evaluating BOBJ/COGN/BRYO/SEG products for acquisition (and I have done that kind of work now and then), the cost of acquisition generally would have very little weight in the selection. There are a lot of other issues to consider so in that context it will probably only the very small businesses who will take them up....FWIW.
