Installing the NIC and cable modem is no harder than any other PC related installations The USB version of cable modem should be available around this time now. Ethernet should be built in the box, which means you don't need to open your PC - truly plug and play. Intel has a motherboard with build in Ethernet available for quite a while, but they don't target consumer market, mostly in embedded market (ie, inside a big copier/printer machine), I don't know why. Maybe they just want to have a little mercy on 3COM.
