Novell Fills Top Job:
This was a good article and below are a few unique items I have not read in any other publications:
(1) "...Eric Schmidt; Personal: 41; married, two daughters"
(2) "...Schmidt has said there are no plans to move Novell's headquarters to Silicon Valley, where it employs about 1,100 people. Novell has announced plans to build a $300 million facility in North San Jose. For now, Schmidt will have a residence in the Provo/Orem area and will 'live on airplanes' he said..."
(3) "...Smith is no stranger to Novell....He represented Sun in negoations last fall in which the Mountain View Company (SUN) adopted Novell's so-called directory technology for locating people, computers and other resources on a network...."
(4) "...At Brainshare next week.....Novell will detail plans to work with telecommunications companies and Internet Service Providers that will use Novell's NDS technology."
(5) "...The board apparently first offered the job to Ray Lane, president of Oracle Corp., according to Novell sources."
(6) "...'Six month's ago when we started to put together a list of people, Eric was the first candidate off my lips', Marengi said."
(7) "...Robert Bismuth, vice president of corporate stratigic alliance for Digital Equipment Corp., who has worked with Schmidt on committees, said "he's a very bright guy, very capable. I don't know why he would go to Novell, but Eric has a vision, so that may help quite a bit."

Notice that the corporate headquarters to remain in Utah. I would like to see them moved to Silicon Valley and close up shop in Utah.
Joe - Ray Lane was in first position but look's like he turned the offer down.
