[Private message, for ears and eyes of Edwarda only. All others, and PARTICULARY E, should not read]
Faithless? Nay, good lady.
Call me rather compassionate.
The Virtuous Maiden [snicker snicker] E is in great need of solace and infusions of comfort. [As good a name for it as any, I ween!] I feel it my duty as a responsible participant of this Solstice celebration to make all as welcome as possible, and in the case of E particularly to provide for her such solace and comfort as I can. I do find it hard (though after providing much comfort it tends to become soft), but it is a duty from which I, as a man of great honor, cannot withdraw until my duties are completed.
But in truth, I regret every hour which such compassion demands of me, for it means that I must temporarily absent myself from your most sweet and fruitful company.
Were I a less honorable man, I would delight in spending....in spending all my time with Thee and Thee alone. But were I a less honorable man, you would not respect me as much (and especially not in the morning).
So I am sure you will understand why I must sacrifice myself to this great burden, will respect the greatness of my heart in the services I must offer to the harlot E, and and will welcome me with even opener arms when I am finally able to discharge my burdensome duties and devote my full attentions to my One and True Love, Edwarda. |
