Gold, as a "standard of value" is dead.

As a speculative and industrial commodity, it will continue to exist.

My laughing was caused by image and co-relation of Jesse Helms/gold/militia radicals/black helicopter conspiracy theory...

They all seem to have a common denominator...

...and Jesse Helms seems to fit the picture of a super conservative-militia poster boy....

In the face of most central banks selling gold... as if it was going out of style. <g> (even the Swiss Central Bank).

Gold may have a trading range (not over $300/oz)...

Interest rates is what regulates the "morality" of the markets, and as we noticed today, (and yesterday)... the powers that be, are rumor-mongering [again], that the interest rates bogey man is about to strike again....because inflation is lingering in the wings.... lurking, lurking....

I would not argue against a rise in interest rates, regardless of what I think, such is a reality....

As for gold.... Like Goldfinger, the famous Mr. Bond adversary, said:
