If you want bearish posts on AOL go to the T board (which I also follow.)
Now, I know that shorts are right sometimes and longs are right sometimes.
And I know that you can make money both ways.
But a board on a single stock (like AOL, GNET, T , IBM) tends to attract people pulling in a positive direction, like if you are a Giants fan or a Knicks fan and you are routing for the team because you like the players.
I never go short because when I like a team, I never bet against them, and I wouldn't waste my time betting AGAINST a team I do not like. (nor would I waste my time following a team I don't like.)

I like the "aura" and feeling one gets in the positive space.
I dislike being around negativity .

Maybe this brings some context to the short/long conversation.
I feel bad when the shorts act like longs are pollyannas.
