Mohan, literary efforts that explore the human side of Jesus, or characterize him as less than divine, or explore his sexuality are not new in Malayalam, and I don't think the idea itself originated in Kerala. This is not an earth shattering book, despite the paroxysms that the Church goes through every time something similar happens. The only thing unique about this story is that the author was a priest.

PS:May be a 'Fatwa' from Vatican should do the trick.

As far as I know the Syrian Catholic Church doesn't owe allegiance to the Pope, but I could be wrong.
