Kargil Special: Prostitutes raise cash for 'martyrs'

NEW DELHI: The families of Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir have received support from an unexpected quarter: prostitutes. The Times of India said a brothel owner in New Delhi had launched a campaign to raise funds from commercial sex workers for the widows of soldiers who have lost their lives in battles to evict infiltrators from the Himalayan heights of Kashmir, reports Reuters.

''Society may have isolated us, but our sentiments are still with the nation,'' the newspaper quoted brothel owner Nimmi Bai as saying. ''We can understand the pain of these widows who have to bear the responsibility of their families.''
