Vink (fmr mgr of Fidelity Magellan Fund) runs at least a $ billion in institutional money now probably more. What he'll do is start buying a stock that has lots of shorts and small float. Based on his % of the shares he owns, he has to file a disclosure form with sec. When the sec filing is seen by others, they start buying and it too and it just feeds on itself. I've heard he'll that sometimes after selling off his shares, he'll start shorting - but I am not sure of that part of the story. Victor
