DJ SatCon New Alternator Design Can Be Used In Cars, Trucks CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Dow Jones)--SatCon Technology Corp. (SATC) tests of its "PowerSmart" alternator electronics package for Delco Remy International Inc. (RMY) showed the new design makes it easier for low-cost, high-volume manufacturing. The company said the new design can be used in both automobiles and trucks as well. In a press release Wednesday, SatCon said that while it licensed the PowerSmart alternator to Delco Remy, it will also manufacture the product. SatCon's purchase of HyComp gives it the capacity to make the alternator at high-volume. Terms of the licensing agreement with Delco weren't disclosed. As reported in May, Delco will pay an initial fee and a per-unit royalty for the product. SatCon makes power and energy management products for manufacturing and for auto, aircraft and satellite applications. Delco Remy makes vehicle starting motors. More good news for SATC Jim
