Excellent Post on TMF:

The following link was discovered by IomegaNut on TMF board (entire post in italics):

For those hoping CD-R/W will save Iomega, think again. The margins are so low, even the Japanese can't compete.

nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com

"...The drastic expansion of production by leading Taiwan-based (CD-R/W) drive makers has priced Japanese rivals out of the market due to high manufacturing costs and thin profits."
-----

The CD-RW announcement from Iomega seems to have been part of the Hype that drove it to $5. Now, that PC Expo Hype is over. And Earnings Losses are the only things to look forward to. A lot of people who bought IOM the past few days don't even realize that Iomega wil report a big Loss in July, not to mention a $40+ Million Charge against Earnings ON TOP OF THAT!

Iomega's bread and butter Zip is now on its decline. And CD-RW is not the answer to make up the profits from this one-product company.

----

Yet another on-the-spot post by IomegaNut. CD-RW is clearly not the saviour for Iomega. The Japanese can't even make a worthwhile profit with it!

TMF is lucky to have a regular poster such as IomegaNut. He is one of the only ones there who has correctly analyzed Iomega's situation and stock price. He agrees with those who predict IOM will continue a long painful descent down towards Iomega's Book Value of $1.50 or so.
