Jim:

I am still sticking with my original prediction of between 2.4M and 2.5M by Friday (more likely closer to 2.4M).

As far as Beyond.com -- I wouldn't underestimate it. Remember, Amazon has a ton of funny money in it own stock valuation of around $20B.

And software is really not like books in the Warehouse sense. In fact, I would guess that more than half of Beyond.Com sales are electronic downloads (which of course requires no warehouse whatsoever.)

And I know for a fact that almost all of Digital River sales are electronic downloads.

As Internet connections get faster, you will see electronic downloads become the preferred method to buy and sell software.

The sales for SpectorSoft are more than 80 percent electronic downloads already.

So, Amazon will be looking at the electronic delivery aspect at which ever software company they decide to buy.

Here is one thing you can take to the bank: the stock of either Digital River or Beyond will suffer greatly if one is chosen by Amazon over the other.

Look at what Amazon did to CDNOW and Music Boulevard when it started selling CDs. It (Amazon) became the leader in its first full quarter of selling CDs.
