The LMDS System design is based on five (5) Stanford Telecom pending patents and follows the international DAVIC standard for Digital Audio Visual Systems. The system employs Stanford Telecom's network protocol for the delivery of broadband integrated services using asynchronous transfer mode, its frequency control scheme for minimizing frequency drift in the subscriber terminals for point to multipoint systems, and its demand assignment multiple access algorithms. Stanford Telecom's approach is based on a cellular system that features frequency reuse, a closed loop subscriber transmit power control technique, and a TDMA signaling structure that operates with the ATM system to allow redistribution of system bandwidth as subscriber data requirements change.
