<<What does he know to assign such a low relative valuation on such assets?>> Apparently not much of anything. The MRV division has grown consistently every year of its operation. On the one hand he pooh poohs this, without stating a reason. He probably isn't even aware of all their products, customers and markets. But in the Q4 and again in the Q1 Conference calls, he questioned their vertical integration strategy - go figure. His questions at the CCs are not strong ones. Bob Lam of Bear Stearns doesn't even bother to participate in the last 2-3 CCs. I don't have much respect for either of them.
