I believe that the expression you were reaching for is "only one side of the coin":-)...It is certainly true that the media may both break and reinforce stereotypes, or create new ones, but if the primary goal is to widen the perception of who can belong in German society, and weaken the hold of ethnicity as a determinant, the acceptance of "unGerman" looks among prominent members of German society is very useful...
