marketmover,

The only spin-off that looks really interesting to me is JCP. Unfortunately it's a tracking stock. You can get a valuation for JCP around $75 pretty easily if all it's moves go according to plan.

I bought some TEN - it looks like OK to me.

You might also be interested in ESSF - a $19 cash buyout with a ~$3 taxable spin-off in about a month and a half.

I'd be interested in DPH maybe 15%-20% lower than it currently is trading for a longer term holding (say 4-yrs).

MO is a looking better now that RJR has done a spin-off - people will have a better benchmark to value the stock and the increased pressure for a spin-off may cause management to make moves.

There are a lot of nice cash buy-outs that have appeared - 8% over three months with large, sound, acquirers. Much better than last year where they were sometimes as low as 4%.

My best special situation pick lately was BRAD emerging from bankruptcy at ~$3. Not an opportunity now though.

Mostly, I'm just holding onto my cash and patiently looking for better opportunities.

Regards,
Stew
