Let's talk about the stock picking contest! We are now accepting registrations for the next stock picking contest. This contest will start July 1st 1999 and run until September 2nd 1999. The selection criteria is as follows: 6 unique positions -3 long and 3 short. We will be investing $10,000 in each There are no sector restrictions All stocks must be above $5 The registrations and stock selection must be conducted on line by 4pm EST on July 1st. You do not have to be a DWA customer or Internet subscriber to play so if you know someone who would like to play they are welcome! You can log in each day and see how you are doing against the "field." It's a lot of fun and we will be doing more of these contests in the future. Most people concentrate on buying and one of the ideas of this contest is to get you to think about the two sided market as it requires you to identify the underperformers. You should be concentrating not only on poor charts patterns but on sectors showing weakness as well. Prizes will be announced early next week. GOOD LUCK!! Now then. We are a thread that helps each other by sharing ideas and support. We can do that with this contest as well and those that have the box seats can be particularly helpful. I'm calling on all of you to participate. Winning is fantastic and I will be tickled pink if someone from this thread wins! I think it a better testament to us as Piffers if we find a way to share information so that people can chose stocks with certainty. Here's some ideas. Those that have fundamental information please post ideas so that we can run them through the Piff blender. Those with box seats do search criteria's for sectors and stocks. Using Mr. BSL's FA list would be perfect. Those in the cheap seats can look through the pattern reports. We should discuss what patterns to look for in regards to shorts. This is confusing to some. Etc. I thought of starting a new thread for this but I think for now here is good. I hope you all would like to participate. This is going to be fun and I so hope to make it a "thread" event as well.
