It doesn't matter who the President or Attorney General is, the DOJ ATDiv hires kids out of school and lets them play around. Nobody wants a career in DOJ, they want a scalp and to become a partner in some big ATFirm and bill $500 bucks an hour. New lawyers were (are?) GS-9's. A mere pittance -- working for DOJ an investment in making yourself a real pain in the ass.
If anyone in power tries to influence a DOJ investigation, there will be a leak, and forget about it. Nothing the attorney's like better than fame.
