Dega Introduces Prototype of DegaSource, The On-Line Parts Catalogue and Ordering System
PR Newswire, Thursday, June 24, 1999 at 08:21
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Dega Technology, Inc. (BB: DEGA) has completed the prototype of DegaSource, the on-line parts catalogue and ordering system. Dega has combined its traditional electronic parts catalogue know-how with new on-line merchandising techniques to create the ultimate Internet Parts Catalogue. "DegaSource is a universal parts catalogue with complete e-commerce capability. It will connect and unite distributors and buyers of automotive parts and allow on-line trade," stated Jean-Pierre Makeyev, the company's Chief Executive Officer.
DegaSource is unique. Unlike most Internet applications, it does not make use of a series of linked WEB pages that need to be painstakingly accessed in succession. Its clever new design exemplifies the new generation of Internet applications. The parts supply business is a demanding one. Parts professionals need and deserve the best in information access and e-commerce business capabilities. To meet this need, DegaSource employs the latest Internet technologies such as XML and Java. The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association, AAIA (formerly APAA), has established aftermarket parts data standards. To date, DegaSource is the only AAIA-compliant Internet catalogue.
DegaSource is flexible. It allows users to customize their searches, find the needed parts, and purchase them on-line from their suppliers. Conversely, suppliers customize their offering with tiered inventory and price selections. DegaSource respects the established business practices of all its customers.
DegaSource is universal. It addresses both the traditional and the specialty markets. The traditional area of DegaSource contains data for domestic and import vehicles. This manufacturers' data is maintained and updated in real time. The specialty area of DegaSource contains the data used by suppliers of "specialized" parts and accessories, such as those needed for classic import cars and rare or antique cars.
The traditional area of DegaSource will be completed by November 1999 and launched at the Industry Week show that same month. The specialty area is being built continuously as Dega data engineers work their way down the waiting list of clients. SOURCE Dega Technology, Inc.
