On a recent trip I accompanied some other company folks to a casino -- hard to imagine, eh? I just wanted to see what it was like.

I can't begin to tell you how empty I felt seeing rows upon rows of slot machines -- people transfixed, feeding token after token into the things -- sheeesh, and I thought TV was a waste ---

I know that some of my stock picks and option plays may have amounted to gambling -- but this form of "entertainment" as it is called produces nothing healthy and many things that can be very destructive ...

I don't know whether gambling is necessarily a sin (certainly for many it is), but the government sponsorship and profit from it sure seems like a great evil to me.

At its base -- the idea of luck and fortune are simply another way of denying God and the benefits that we receive every day from His good hand.
