I totally agree with both your comments. If you cut your losses, long and short, there is no real difference. Inexperienced investors do not always cut their losses and they often get away with it. Inexperienced Investors are notorious for buying a stock watching it go down, then the first chance they get after it reaches their purchase price, they buy it. (This is one reason why technical trading is so effective) Come on, I am sure you all have done it. This practice does not work when your short, and hence the average person says it is more risky.
