Teflon, You are very upset. I was upset but am happy now. MSFT up on instinet (only 1/8 though). We should see the stock finally start moving up without the background noise/nonsense. I think that AOL emachine story will be very significant. I still can't believe a company can have a monopoly that can last only about 3 years---and still be considered a monopoly. If the judge has half a brain he should be able to conclude there is no monopoly. It is basically a supplier problem faced by some PC makers.

Notice how Joel Klein(when asked) just avoided answering the question on the AOL story. The reporter gave him the whole story. I take that as a very good sign. He was speechless.

I think we will see a settlement soon or at least rumors of talks. That should drive up the volatility on MSFT options and the stock itself.

In the Seattletimes story i posted earlier, MSFT was given the choice of jury or judge and they selected to have the case decided by a judge.(can someone confirm this?). If they knew it would be Jackson, why would they choose this route? I guess they feel the law is on their side.

In any case, i am happy this thing is over and the AOL story did emerge. As the DOJ/States are interested in remedies stage anyways, i can see a settlement soon. They won't want to risk going before appeals courts for years (without the courtroom theatrics) and not get anything out of it. At least now they got some headlines ; so why risk it. I think MSFT go that route if the the government's demands don't become reasonable(as Neukom suggested in the seattletimes story).
I believe the AOL thing will cause the DOJ to settle.
