KENNECOTT JOINT VENTURES
Kennecott has an option to earn a 50% interest in the Ice Claims, and the Rocking Horse and Hood River Properties.
Kennecott to incur stipulated minimum exploration expenditures by 2008 Kennecott will have vested its 50% interest if the aggregate exploration expenditures on exploration and feasibility studies exceeds $50 million $5.2 million expenditures in 1997 $5.4 million expenditures in 1998 $4.1 million exploration budget for 1999 - 4,000 meters of drilling planned.
THE ICE CLAIMS RECENT DISCOVERIES
The joint venture between Tahera and Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc, a subsidiary of UK-based RTZ Limited, discovered a new kimberlite in June 1997 on Tahera's wholly-owned ICE claims in the Northwest Territories. The pipe, designated L1-201, is entirely land-based, located 90 meters west of a previous diamondiferous discovery known as T-31, and may be part of the Lac de Gras kimberlite field.
On April 24, 1999, the joint venture discovered the "Vega" kimberlite. Initial caustic fusion results to determine if the new kimberlite is diamondiferous should be available within the next few weeks.
SIGNIFICANT NEW MINERAL TRAINS
The joint venture partners will continue to focus exploration efforts this year on the areas of the ICE claims (in total approximately 290,000 hectares) where significant indicator mineral trains have been identified and on the continuing evaluation of the Ranch Lake kimberlite pipe, which contains an estimated 57 million tonnes of kimberlite to a depth of 300 meters with a surface expression of more than 12 hectares. A revision of the grades of Ranch Lake have increased the average grade to between 0.30 carats to 0.35 carats per tonne. The exploration philosophy is to explore for additional higher grade pipes that would improve the overall viability of the Ranch Lake property. An amount of C$1.5 million has been budgeted on exploration activities in 1999.
ROCKINGHORSE LAKE AND HOOD RIVER AREAS KENNECOTT LAYS THE GROUNDWORK FOR A LARGE SCALE EXPLORATION PROGRAM
The joint venture agreement between Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. and Tahera covers an area of some 509,000 hectares in the Rockinghorse Lake and Hood River Areas. During 1997 airborne and ground geophysics, till sampling, quaternary geological mapping and limited reconnaissance drilling were carried out as part of a larger program to establish prospective kimberlite targets based on the previous exploration efforts of Tahera Corporation. Approximately C$2.6 million has been budgeted on exploration activities in 1999.
In May 1999, a new kimberlite, called "Altair", was discovered on the north end of the Rocking Horse Property. Core from the Altair kimberlite will undergo caustic fusion analysis to determine if the new kimberlite is diamondiferous.
ASHTON JOINT VENTURE
Ashton has vested a 51% interest in the Roundrock properties
Aquila pipe discovered on roundrock properties $2.1 million spent in 1997 - geophysics and till sampling $250,000 exploration budget for 1999 will include geophysical surveys and till sampling

ENTERING THE ALBERTA DIAMOND PLAY
Tahera has also expanded its Canadian areas of interest beyond the Northwest Territories and Nunavut and into Alberta. In January 1998, Tahera entered into a letter agreement with Birch Mountain Resources Ltd., to jointly explore for diamonds on Birch Mountain's properties in Alberta. Alberta Core
The agreement provides that Tahera has the right to earn up to a 60 percent interest in the diamond rights in the Birch Mountain properties by spending $4.89 million within the next 4 years. Tahera's interest can be further increased to 75 per cent upon the completion of a feasibility study. ..>> ????????????????????? Is it still active in JV or abondoned??? Chucka...will there be news on NBL JV or BMD Block of Diamonds..or news ON SHELL - SYNCRUDE..we might all see over a dozen or two questions to be answered...very nice.
This is not near us in our areas though, right? Tahera receives additional results from Contwoyto-1 pipe Tahera Corp TAH Shares issued 159,300,000 1999-06-23 close $0.16 Thursday Jun 24 1999 Mr. Grant Ewing reports Tahera has received additional caustic fusion analysis results from the Contwoyto-1 kimberlite pipe. The Contwoyto-1 kimberlite pipe, one of four kimberlites discovered thus far at the Jericho diamond project, is approximately 24 kilometres east of the Lupin gold mine, and 38 kilometres southeast of the Jericho pipes. The Jericho diamond project, wholly owned by Tahera Corporation, is in Canada's newest territory, Nunavut, approximately 420 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife, NWT, and 170 kilometres northeast of Ekati, Canada's first diamond mine. Tahera Corporation is currently conducting a feasibility study on developing a modest sized diamond mine at the Jericho diamond project based on the JD/OD (Jericho) kimberlite pipe. Depending on results of the current evaluation program, Tahera may add the Contwoyto-1 kimberlite to the proposed mine plan. Approximately 2,000 metres of delineation core drilling have been completed on the Contwoyto-1 kimberlite to date. The kimberlite has been probed to a maximum depth of 222 metres and remains open at depth. Drilling has confirmed that the pipe is pear shaped and has horizontal dimensions of approximately 60 metres by 80 plus metres. Preliminary microdiamond results from caustic fusion analysis of the Contwoyto-1 kimberlite completed to date are listed below:
Discovery DDH C99-11 Hole Vertical Diamond (Previously Hole (First Size Reported) 85 Metres)
+1 millimetre (two dimensions) 1 5
+0.5 (two dimensions) 12 25
+0.5 (one dimension) 26 54
Total diamonds 169 657 (+0.15 of a millimetre in two dimensions)
Total kilograms processed 90.2 121.9
The largest stones reported from DDH C99-11 are an octahedron measuring 2.5 millimetres by 2.25 millimetres by 2.0 millimetres (mm) (estimated weight 0.092 of a carat), a broken irregular stone measuring 2.56 mm by 1.46 mm by 1.0 mm (estimated weight 0.033 of a carat) and an octahedron measuring 1.81 mm by 1.56 mm by 1.13 mm (estimated weight 0.023 of a carat). Caustic fusion analysis of the remainder of DDH 99-11 is proceeding. Based on the favourable microdiamond results returned to date, Tahera is preparing for the extraction of a minibulk sample to determine the preliminary diamond grade of the Contwoyto-1 kimberlite pipe. The Toronto Stock Exchange has conditionally approved the listing of the common shares of the new company, Tahera Corporation, in place of the Lytton shares upon completion of the amalgamation and filing the required documents. The shares of Tahera Corporation will begin trading on the TSE under the symbol TAH effective March 1, 1999 subject to completion of court approval and regulatory filings. Tahera Corporation will have 154.3 million shares outstanding. Winter Exploration Program The winter exploration program at the Jericho diamond project in the Northwest Territories is scheduled to commence during the last week of February. The Jericho project, in the north central region of the Slave Structural Province of the Northwest Territories, approximately 400 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife, will be wholly owned by Tahera Corporation. The initial phase of the program will consist of delineation drilling (1,200 metres) on the recently discovered Contwoyto-1 kimberlite, followed by drill testing approximately eight priority targets (1,000 metres) in the immediate vicinity of the new kimberlite. In the Jericho area, where three diamondiferous kimberlite pipes (JD pipes) have been discovered to date, ground geophysical surveys to further define targets is planned, followed by drill testing approximately ten of the highest priority kimberlite targets (1,200 metres). The Contwoyto and JD pipes lie within a 30 km radius of the Lupin mine facilities. Current plans call for this phase of the program to be followed by a summer program of geological mapping, prospecting, additional till sampling, geophysics and a followup exploration drilling program in the fall of 1999. Approximately 800,000 hectares of Tahera's land position in the Northwest Territories is subject to a joint venture agreement with Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. Kennecott will commence its winter exploration drilling program on the Ice claims and the Rockinghorse and Hood River properties in March 1999. Approximately 30 - 35 kimberlite targets (4,500 metres) will be tested in the exploration program that will run from March to June 1999.
