Phony!

That's how I felt about this close. I haven't had a chance to write because I have been arguing so vociferously for a right to buy into the close of Philip Morris (MO:NYSE). I am not a big Philip Morris fan, politically, but it does have a big meeting next week and I want in ahead of it. But I want in at that artificial closing price of 40.5, where very few people got in.

It can be like that when these markets are thin. Some hedge fund went to work buying puts on the Dow Jones average in the last half hour and it caused a huge downturn on no volume. I have my Dow favorites and I wanted to take the other side of the put buying on some individual stocks. But the speed of the decline and the inability to take the other side of it because of that velocity disgusted me.
