In a post long ago I wrote that Ms. Marika Juergens (a lovely woman and competent executive) of Iridium had said to me, among others present, at a Washington luncheon that "Bernard Schwartz is a brilliant financier". This $500 million loan is a testament and a half to that statement. I honestly don't know of anyone else, with perhaps the exception of Herbert Allen, Warren Buffett, and Bill Gates, who could have pulled this off given the circumstances of Iridium and ICO. $500 million is a lot of money, ladies and gentlemen. Kudos, Bernard. You did good.
