NASDAQ is getting tough with enforcing the rules. A bad omen for many penny stock
investors. This story is particularly poignant because the shareholders and company officials felt they were a special case. NOT!

HENDERSON, Nev., Jun 24, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --

Alta Gold Co. to Appeal

Alta Gold Co. Thursday announced that the Nasdaq Listing
Qualifications Panel has denied the company's request for an extension
of time to comply with Nasdaq's continued listing criteria, and
accordingly has delisted the company's securities from the Nasdaq
National Market as of the close of business Wednesday.

Robert N. Pratt, president and chief executive officer of Alta Gold,
stated: "We are extremely disappointed with Nasdaq. In spite of the
in-person appeal we made in Washington, D.C., on behalf of our
stockholders, and in spite of over 1,000 letters from our stockholders
requesting that Nasdaq not delist the company, it is very disturbing
that Nasdaq has chosen to ignore the interests of our stockholders.
We
intend to appeal this decision to the Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review
Council."
