re: Dell falling behind because they don't have an entry into this segment today? no.

I believe you are wrong in respect to the following. I believe the PC companies should be offering whole house systems, house nets, servers, slim down net PCs, a turn key packages if you well and yes designer PCs and yes ISP services. At least they should show a packages so consumers could see what it could be like, then consumers could buy what they want now, your basic boring box that you bought would become server, then add to it later, home net, etc etc. I know your posting about designer PCs, but it's the lack of stepping out of the box, that bothers me. Dell is down right stogy is right. Why not have some vision and throw it out, show what it could be like, have a web page for netzens to look at. Dell does not have to make it, but by having it out on the web for people to see, they could get feed back for free.. Why not have migration path, instead of throwing the PCs in the back room to gather dust. PC are getting powerful now, their life should be longer and reborn as servers..

On another note.

IPSpc or PCIsp. It's the way the Cellular industry is going right now. Soon all Laptops, will have built in wireless right out of the box and all Cellular Phones will be more like PCs, and Cellular companies will be ISPs.

Also.

Ultimately the term ISP will just disappear just like Net company will.
