We had two kitties: Staccato and Legato. Legato died with kidney problems. The vet was trying surgery and said that he couldn't justify allowing this cat to come back. So we told him to go ahead. My husband called me at school. Fortunately I was on break. I cried terribly. I called my Mom. She cried. Then I went to my room to have a class of children waiting for me.

"awww, Miz Young, whut's makin' you so sad?" I bawled in front of those poor 4th graders. "Miz Young, my cat just had kittens, you wanna come home with me after school and git one?"

Then we brought home my mother's cat when she knew she couldn't care for her. That was Princess. Before Mom, Princess had been abused and still didn't have a lot of trust of people. But we gradually won her over.

She developed little tumors all over her tummy and once again we had to put her to sleep.

Legato and Princess reside in cozy little coffins in the pet cemetary with a space for Staccato, who is now 16. And now we have Gracie as well.

Its a amazing what a little love can do and kitties and doggies tend to teach us how.
