I believe NetZero will inevitably run into accessibility problem. Just imaging that all the AOL, EarthLink, MindSpring... users give up the paid service and head for free service... Oh man! The phone lines are burning up.

You said it right, this is a good backup system for broadband service. I believe those people who couldn't decide to trade in their ISP for ATHM now will definitely go for ATHM and use free ISP as backup. The era of free low end ISP and high end broadband in the United States begins. The trend is very clear.
