Good morning!
Here's another ''cliché'' --right from the German press.... csmonitor.com
Excerpt:
In an opinion poll published this week in Der Spiegel magazine, 55 percent of eastern German respondents agree that foreigners in the country live at the expense of Germans, while 38 percent think so in the west. Almost half of the eastern German respondents believe foreigners take away jobs, and twice as many in the east as in the west think "a dictatorship could solve current problems better than a democracy."
Besides, as a Jewish American, why don't you tell us about bigotry and prejudice in the US instead? Or what's going on in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, etc. I think that such a digression would be much more entertaining for our audience than your travesty of a Jewish fellow living in Germany with a German passport.... Or else, please follow my example in backing up your own German cliches with a couple of related scraps --I don't mind whether your material is in English, German or French. Yet, I bet you must have access to plenty of reliable German sources to support your rosy, prejudice-free feeling of Germany. Oh, and if by mere chance you've got a couple of Turkish friends: bring them along! Let's have some firsthand testimonies. And, while we're at it, tell Neocon that I'm still waiting for his viewpoint on my Volkswagen report (in French).... You know, Volkswagen is the largest employer in Brussels (the renowned capital of Europe) with over 7,000 personel. Yet, the company employs only a dozen of non-European folks! To help you to get the picture, imagine a Ford Motor subsidiary right in the heart of the Bronx that would employ a couple of black janitors as its token minority.... Note that Volkswagen is a German corporate icon --and, please, don't tell me their Brussels outfit is run by Flemings! True, the former Director-General was Jules Ackermans, but he threw in the towel over a year ago and was replaced by a Wolfsburg-appointed German triumvirate.
