Isaac, I am a position trader and work with end of day data. I am familiar with MetaStock RT (Real Time) though. All the indicators are updated on a tick by tick basis, so the program works in real time just as it does on a daily basis. The drawback is that MetaStock RT is available in a DOS version only. The DOS version is good, but it doesn't compare to the end of day windows version.

I would suggest you also look into Omega Research's TradeStation. It is a windows based program designed for intra-day trading. I have looked at the demo and was quite impressed. It has more features, such as setting up alarms to alert you when your parameters are met, but it it is more complex and three times the price of MetaStock.

Your choice will depend on your level of knowledge of technical analysis. If you at an advanced level, capable of writing your own formulas and can easly learn fairly complex computer syntax, then TradeStation is unparalleled. If you are looking for something that is easy to use but not as sophisticated then go to MetaStock RT.

Before you decide request a demo from each vendor - MetaStock RT by Equis International (www.equis.com) and TradeStation by Omega Research (www.omegaresearch.com).
