The fault then lies with the prosecutor at the charging phase. The system isn't perfect, and there will be poor outcomes due to prosecutorial incompetence, but when we come to the point where we think jury nullification is an appropriate remedy, I fear for our democracy. If the evidence didn't support the charge in your assault case, then you reached the correct verdict.
