penni, the discussion you folks have been having (about being "hardwired" for belief, chemical soup, etc.) is one of the best I have ever read on SI. It reminds me of the kind of night-long kitchen-table discussions of The Meaning of Life Russians used to have (before they had to start worrying about making money). Don't let the scientifically-minded intimidate you! There are the Truths of Science, and those of Intuition, after all. And haven't some of the very best scientists (e.g., Einstein) started with an intuitive insight, which then became a hypothesis they had to spend years laboring to "prove"? So, speculate away...
