An IBM exec told me recently that the overhead at the San Jose facilities is so prohibited that he wouldn't be surprised to see more of the Storage Ops transistioned over time to lower cost of living regions. Just a few years ago, IBM was the dominant employer in the region, being the largest generator of tax revenue to the City of San Jose. That now has changed, with Cisco taking the top slot.
