I must respectfully disagree about your comment on shorting. Shorting is a valid trading technique and should be allowed.

What I don't like, which the SEC should address, is that the short interest should be reported within a few hours of the close - EVERY SINGLE DAY. There is no reason why this can't occur. If you believe the BS about how hard it is to collect the data, I've got some property I'd like to show you. Short interest on every nnm issue should be available within a few hours of the close every day - period. The ax in any particular issue has this information and they use it to their trading benefit. This info should be public, IMHO.
