Rascal,

No heated discussion. Just discussion. Certainly AOL's brand name helps sell the service. People have talked about that frequently on this thread and branding is often a strong competitive advantage. Ask 100 people without Internet access for the name of an ISP and 99 of them will probably say AOL. As I said when I brought up the subject, this is an intuitive guess that I haven't really beat the bushes to rationalize. But there is a growing sophistication about the Internet, even among people not on the net. I had a neighbor who was so dim he thought a lot of Internet sites were part of AOL and that he could only get them through his AOL connection. I doubt that happens as much now. People often have Internet access at work before they subscribe at home. That makes them a little more sophisticated before they even buy a PC at home.
It's those kinds of ideas that make me think AOL will not double in the next 12 months.
So what do you say? Will AOL have 34 million subscribers by June of next year?
Best,
--Steve
