Steve I agree, What about Abdullah the Butcher, Dave Rule, Mad dog Vachon, Stu Hart, etc from the old Stampede wrestling days. I remember as a kis of 7 or 8, when we use to go 2 hours before match time, so we could get front row seats and we use to sell the programs at the door. We would make enough money to pay outr way in, not to mention it would pay for our hamburgers, pop and chips. In my days, Abdullah was the king and he use to wear these thongs and a praying mat into the ring before each match. Once the action started someone and even us, would try and pilfer his thongs in the corner of the ring. For years we still had the individual thongs from several different occasions. It was great fun. Nowadays it is to much show and not enough good old fashioned brawling. When was the last time anyone ever saw a little blood on the forehead of one of the new age wrestlers. The answer: NEVER. |
